Yellow Lemon Drops : Yellow Skater Dress with Jewelled Necklace

Sunday, August 31, 2014 Simone - Your Style Architect 1 Comments

Happy Weekend Everyone.

Taking a break in between My Favourite Fall Fashion Trends instalment posts, here is a recent look I had worn for my birthday.

I suddenly started enjoying Yellow lots over this Summer in my nail designs and outfits. Also shifting into simpler and more minimalistic outfits in order to trend statement, jewelled necklaces - my latest craze!

I am sure as many of you who have been following my blog would realise, my dog Cookie loves to photobomb my pictures. She always gets sooo excited when I pull out the camera and
believe you me, she is no stranger to being in front of the camera having been a mascot for a Pet Shop back in Singapore in her hey days ( see post " Looking for a nice homestay for Cookie").

So, here in my village we have had a few wild dogs take over the territory recently and now they have started to get in the act and the whole " photobombing" trend.

Here's one for laughs.

My Favourite Fall Fashion Trends 2014 - Part 1

Friday, August 29, 2014 Simone - Your Style Architect 2 Comments

Hi everyone,

Here's my first instalment post on the A/W 2014 Fashion Trends. I hope to inspire you and help you prepare your wardrobes to head fashionably into Fall 2014. Some of these trends were constantly highlighted in many of the runway shows e.g Paris Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week etc.

In this post, I will highlight some of the key colour trends to follow for Fall/ Winter 2014. Not forgetting, I have included my own Styleboard Colour charts and items you may wish to consider to trend these colours for Autumn/ Winter 2014.

1. Vibrant Hues

We often find Fall/ Winter 2014 outfits in darker shades and gloomier colours, but this year, try going bold and bright with vibrant hues.

2. Navy Blue

Always loved the blue and black theme. You do not have to tone down your whole outfit in the same colour but highlight it with accents of Navy Blue to your outfit to trend this colour for Fall.

3. Burgundy / Maroon

Like in previous years where Oxblood was a popular Fall colour, this darker shade of red is a much preferred colour for this year's " red" trend.

4. Orange

I have always leaned towards burnt orange and mandarin orange in many of my outfit or accessory choices as it brings out the glow in my tan skin.

5. Colour Blocking

Can't decide which colour works for you? Colour blocking certainly helps to add that vibrancy and flow to an outfit especially in Fall / Winter where most clothings are in darker hues.

If you love colour as much as I do, you can also colour block your outfits with trending Fall colours by mixing and matching various items e.g Orange skirt/ Purple blouse/ Red bag, Navy Blue jacket/Orange shirt/ Blackjeans or leather tights, Green dress / Orange shoes / Brown long Knit outerwear etc.

So go have fun with Fall's colour trends and stay tuned for Part 2 of " My Favourite Fall Fashion Trends 2014" for clothing styles to watch for this season.

Love,
Simone

Happy Monday everyone !

Been feeling the call of pastels and here is my summer take on Powder Pink ( a colour I don't often wear but slowly experimenting with it).

Accentuating the outfit with bright colours in my accessories, helps to bring some sharpness to the outfit and hence fit my personality and style better when working with pastels.

Stay tuned as my next post will be on " How to wear Powder Pink" and I will be creating 3 different looks for you to play around with.

Whistle a Happy Tune : Whistles Dress & Statement Jewels

Wednesday, August 20, 2014 Simone - Your Style Architect 2 Comments

Hi everyone.

Hope you guys are rocking your week stylishly.I recently discovered the Whistles brand of which their simplistic yet stylish outfits have gotten the better of me. Hence here is  my take on a Whistles dress which doubles up as a stylish office outfit that can take you from work to drinks and dinner. From the weekend to the weekday.

Just throw on a jacket and a scarf or an understated necklace for work. Swap the necklace for statement jewelry, red lips and a clutch and you have a sexy yet elegant outfit for the evening.

I dressed mine with wedges for the weekend out but had to add my touch of " loudness" with my new statement necklace which I love so much for its myriad of colours. You can always wear a hat, longer jacket ( aka Kate Middleton) and boots, and you have got yourself a nice Autumn outfit waiting to rock the town in.

For those of you who are not yet familiar with the Whistles brand - this high street UK brand has got their equation right of combining current trends with the right dose of elegance and sophistication. Even the Duchess of Cambridge ( Kate Middleton) has taken to this popular UK brand and have been seen wearing several of their outfits on various occasions.

Can you believe it - they even have a dress named ideally after me - "Simone Swing Shift Dress"... how apt is that? And in a style that works well for me.

Endless Summer Days : Little Black Dress with Red Heels

Saturday, August 16, 2014 Simone - Your Style Architect 2 Comments

Happy Weekend everyone.

Whilst the weather continues to heat up here in HK, most of my summer outfits are either skirts, shorts or skorts with the rare occasion of pants or jeans cos it does get quite humid from mid morning.

So I decided to pull out a short summer black dress which works perfect for an item that could be part of your weekend or summer getaway ensemble as you can easily dress it up with heels and statement accessories for the evening or dress it down with casual sandals and summer hats for the day.

Knowing me - I decided to do the 2 in 1. Wear a hat and pair it with heels. You got to be different somehow right?

Here's how some celebrities and my fellow bloggers have styled their Little Black Dresses with coloured accents for summer.

LOVERLY : : Dream Day Style Challenge

Friday, August 08, 2014 Simone - Your Style Architect 0 Comments

Hi everyone,

Being happily married for 14 years now ( if some of you are wondering why this post), I am certainly not planning a wedding for myself. However, when Loverly - a New York based online Wedding Planning portal, contacted me recently to participate in their Dream Day Style Challenge,  it had struck a warm note in my heart and got me really excited again.

Having started off my first hotel job as a Wedding Planner, I found a passion for organizing events - in particular weddings, very fulfilling.

Being an integral part of someone else's BIG DAY and helping to ease their stress level with them putting full confidence in you in organising what would be a once in a lifetime event in their lives, is so rewarding.

If I had to do it all over again a City Venue ( aka Sex in the City) would be the kind of wedding I would prefer. Somehow living in fast moving cities like Singapore and Hong Kong and working with a tropical climate, it's difficult for me to envision planning a Rustic wedding in the countryside or a Beach Wedding.

I chose this Casablanca-Kirstie Kelly gown for my look as I love that touch of bling at the waist. This classic sweetheart style gown with a mermaid cut full skirt gives the dress the pomp and flair that would only be ideal for a big day such as this.

It would be a sin not to consider these sparkly, strappy Jimmy Choo heels. However keeping in line with
"less is more", Thomas Laine diamond/ pearl earrings and a simple embroidered veil  would be ideal accessories. An elegant headpiece like this Mistletoe comb would add that final touch to complete the ultimate City Chic Wedding outfit.

So for those of you who are planning for that Big Day and need a little inspiration, I hope you will find this post of some help to you and do check out more styles, wedding dresses and accessories at Loverly to help you achieve that Dream Day Style!

Love,
Simone

Summer Fun : Funky Sleeves Top and Printed Shorts

Tuesday, August 05, 2014 Simone - Your Style Architect 0 Comments

Hi Everyone.

Finally back from my round the world trip from HK - UK - Florida and back. Whilst on the trip, having a lil more time to myself and not having to deal with daily school runs and routines, I was able to get active with Instagram again  (@simoneaf) and of course, get inspired with my fashion blogging.

As always, Cookie ( my pet dog) always gets so excited when she sees me with the camera and ready to pose. And somehow, someway she will always make sure she photobombs my pictures. Don't believe me, just check out my older posts and you will see!

Back from the Sunshine coast of Florida, I was inspired to go Yellow this time for my nails and kinda liking this pop of colour to my outfits.

I hope you guys will try to add those rich vibrant colours to your outfits this Summer ! See you soon!
