Knock Your Socks Off :: Socks in Shoes & Floral Skirt

Hi Everyone.

It's just been a very sad couple of days since the start of the week with the passing of the founding father of Singapore ( where I come from) - Mr Lee Kuan Yew. You will probably have read/heard it in the news and have watched many documentaries of late of all he has done for Singapore which has made me proud to be a Singaporean.

It seems difficult for me in this time of nation mourning to put together a fashion post. Certainly not a political activist, this post is not meant to be one of propaganda either - just one of mention to give credit where credit is due.

Life goes on for Singapore and Singaporeans and all I can say is that I am grateful for all that Mr Lee Kuan Yew has done and made Singapore to be. Rest in Peace Mr Lee Kuan Yew!

A look I had put together with the intention of trending socks in shoes further for Spring 2015, I figured let's have some fun with this outfit. It may or may not click for some of you but fashion is always about expression and about having fun.

Peep toe  / gladiator shoes seem ideal for working this trend as you can play around with patterned socks for that full on effect.

This wasn't too easy a shoot to take working with heels on the uneven grounds of the forest and critters creeping out from the trees. Was worried that a snake or a wild boar may appear right behind me!!

For those of you still unsure of working this trend for Spring 2015, here are some inspirations for you.

There are no specific rule of thumb here when it comes to mix and matching your socks and shoes but from the inspirations above, you can gather a few " basics" such as :

1) Work it within the same colour tone of your outfit/shoes
2) Preferably keep the socks in a bold solid colour for a more sophisticated look.
3) Work with ankle length socks ( prettier if its got a nice designed garter or detail) however knee high socks are great if there are more details on the socks.

Go have fun and keep those spring toes warm with this trend!

Tulle Kit :: Tulle Skirt & Leather Biker Jacket

Tuesday, March 17, 2015 Simone - Your Style Architect 7 Comments

Hi everyone!

Sorry for the delay in the release of this post - as most of you would know I usually post twice a week. However last week was just crazy busy for me with Connor celebrating his 8th birthday and I had a bunch of his friends over, soccer trials and birthday parties to attend. Was also busy with work so couldn't get any personal down time to blog.

So will keep this post short to pick up the pace again. Not sure if many of you have been noticing the current trends of bloggers and fashionistas sporting tulle skirts in many of their IG and blog posts. Recalling I had one such skirt tucked away at the back of my closet - I decided to pull it out again and style it for Spring 2015.

As I mentioned in a previous post - gladiator heels are an back in trend for Spring Summer 2015 and I just love this pair sooo much. As high as it looks, these snakeskin platform gladiator heels are so comfortable, I could run in it - literally!

I particularly chose to put this look together with the intention of contradicting feels to the outfit. Ballerina sweet blended with a rock chic biker element. Classy yet Sexy with the gladiator heels.

Fooling around having fun during the shoot. Am so glad to inject a new life to this old piece from couple of years back.

Whilst putting this outfit together, I felt the vibe of Carrie Bradshaw from " Sex In The City" wearing this skirt. I do love her quirky way of dressing and certainly this is one look she sported that is imprinted in my mind.

So here are how my fellow bloggers are styling their tulle skirts. Would you try this trend? Please share with me your thoughts on this item in the comments below and tell me which is your favourite way to style this skirt?

Have a " swinging" week ahead and see you again soon!!

Plaid It Right :: Plaid Coat and Stud Heels

Friday, March 06, 2015 Simone - Your Style Architect 12 Comments

Hi everyone,

How was your first week of March? Been busy myself honing in on my baking skills and more so, trying to organise some form of birthday party or get together for my boy who will be turning 8 yrs old soon. How quickly time flies and before you know it, he'd probably be wanting to spend more time with his friends than with me....sigh...

Am glad to see many of my fellow bloggers posting warmer Spring outfits out on their blogs and instagram posts and wish I could do the same however it's just been wet, rainy and foggy for the last 2 weeks here in Hong Kong. Depressing and almost suicidal to some I must say, as we hardly had a peep of sunray at all - let alone that the dehumidier is on overload mode at the moment.

So it's hard to get pictures done these couple of days but here's a recent look I had put together which I love and had good comments about when it was posted recently on IG.

I love navy and this dress was perfect when the weather was initially warming up.

Love how this beautiful black and white plaid coat drapes with a wide boat neck open collar and falls open into a circular shape skirt. Made me feel for a split second like the Duchess of Cambridge - where I have always admired the beautiful full skirt coats she often wears. Feeling regal, I decided to pair this look with an elegant pair of heels to bring out the full on femininity of this outfit.

Ideally, this dress could be worn on its own paired with different accessories for warmer weather. Just can't wait to style this dress for Spring / Summer soon.

The stretchable fabric of this dress doesn't hug you at the wrong places yet instead creates a slim silhouette skimming the curves of one's hips. Perfect!

As for jewelry, I wanted to go bold and slightly loud given chain necklaces are so IN for spring and that the studs on the heels add that rock chic element to this outfit. So why not take that further into the necklace.

Accessories often make or break the outfit. My style has always been slightly bolder and more inclining to sexy than sweet. Do share how you would pair accessories with this outfit to suit your style ?

Shades of Grey :: Grey Culottes and Grey Hat

Monday, March 02, 2015 Simone - Your Style Architect 13 Comments

Happy Start of the Week Everyone!

Hope you have been having a fabulous weekend, chilling and hopefully enjoying warmer and nicer weather.

Its been foggy and wet here in Hong Kong, so I decided to share this look taken a couple of days ago. Somehow this wet weather does get one feeling down and depress - almost suicidal for some... but sun was peeking out a couple of times today so hopefully brighter, sunnier and happier days ahead!

You know how I have been talking about " Culottes" in my last couple of posts and videos and that its a fresh alternative to shorts or skirts for Spring/Summer? So here I decided to pair it with a leather jacket for those of you in cooler climates still, so you can take this look easily for work on casual fridays or on weekends out. As for my fans in warmer tropical weather, I have put together some styleboards you can work with anytime throughout the year.

Got this pair of casual and easy to match grey culottes from ASOS ( my fav online shopping site) and it fits perfectly to many items in my wardrobe as I can easily dress it up or down with various pairings.

You will notice that most of the items in this look have been recycled from my wardrobe - just to inspire you with a few basic essential items, you can mix and match them so easily to create different looks to take you out on the town! Indeed my take on Getting The Look For Less!!

Keeping the look simple, a pop of colour was needed just to give it some oomph... so paired it with a camel coloured leather bag for that all over elegant touch to this pairing.

Before the weather starts to warm up for good and where a choice of hats would gravitate to lighter materials for summer, here's one of the last few looks for my Zara hat I simply adored this Winter.

So now, here are some looks from casual to evening that you can pair and style culottes in.

LOOK NO.1

Look No. 2

Look No. 3

If the above styleboards may not fit your style, perhaps these celebrity and street looks styling Culottes would help give you more ideas on mix and matching this elegant piece of outfit.

If heels are not your thing, try trending Culottes with flats or sneakers instead.

I hope you enjoyed these looks I have put together for you and have fun trending Culottes this Spring 2015!
